Dr. Roger's Road Trip - Drives '34 Sedan 3,300 Miles

Dr. Rogers insisted on taking his '34 with a brand new L76 Chevy engine and transmission to his winter home in Florida. That's a longer shakedown cruise than we are normally comfortable with.

To avoid snow and ice, David opted to head to California and then head across HWY 10, which is about as far south as you can go. This added 500 miles of the most god forsaken country to the trip. Except for a nuisance fuel pump relay, the trip went really well.
This L76 engine is the 6.0l LS style with Displacement on Demand(DoD) and Variable Valve Timing(VVT). It came out of a 2008 Chevy Silverado attached to a 4L65E overdrive tranny. With the 3.0:1 rear ratio, the engine runs about 1600 rpm at 70 mph. This hot rod is built for enjoying the countryside in comfort and style.

It was a great trip, the fulfilment of a life time dream. I enjoyed every mile, even a short flatbed ride. Most of the miles were were in the 70 to 80 mph range. I salute RBI and crew, especially Skirt for keeping them organized. The return trip is still ahead. I promise pictures then. David Rogers
