It took a couple of years, but Bob finally scored a highly desirable mid-'40's Eaton rear end for the '47 Forddump truck. Thanks for that goes out to our friend and fellow '40's Ford dump truck enthusiast Chris Swenson.
By the way, Chris and company should be putting the final touches on the Washington State Eastside vs. Westside Reliability Runthis coming weekend. Is it still on? There doesn't seem to be current information on the H.A.M.B. Are you going? The Skirt is disappointed, the driver of the car she was going to ride in has to go to California.
We just got word at Antique Auto about the Flathead Eastside Vs Westside Reliability Run. The side that gets the most flathead powered vehicles (no overhead converts) to Vantage, WA by noon wins. The Skirt knows it's a year away, but she's excited! Chuck figures if we leaveby 8:00 AM we should get the '41 the 150 miles to Vantage, no problem. Follow the H.A.M.B. for rules and updates.
Eastside group starts here, at the Antique Auto Ranch.
Thee Inland Emperors car club wins this year's Rod Builders Best Traditional or Old School Hot Rod Award at the Spokane Auto Boat Speed Show.
Usually RBI gives this cash prize to an individual, which if we had been pressed to do so we would have to go with John Gunsaulis and his '32 Phaeton, but the soul of the American hot rodder is alive and well in all the Emperors and we felt the whole group deserved recognition. The club featured the following cars in their display:
John Gunsaulis' '32 Ford Phaeton (See Dec. 2008 issue of Goodguys Gazette for full story) Chris Baker's '29 Ford
Devin Corbit's '36 Ford
Chris Swenson's Model A
Long live the Emperors. We look forward to their next project. We hear they may be planning their own car show in place of this year's Hotrod-A-Rama. P.S. Just to be clear, this photo and the one of the ladies is not of the Emperors. Unfortunately, The Skirt did not pay attention to the name of the photographer and so does not know whom to credit. Pretty sure no one reads this blog anyway.
