Spokane Survives SNO-MAGGEDON

Spokane made the national news, again. By the way, we heard the guy in the "news", who supposedly took a shot at the snowplow driver, actually fired into a snowbank. If this is true, he should be charged with illegally discharging a firearm, not 1st-degree assault. Just saying.Now we are dealing with slush, ice and standing water, but at least we can see the end of the tunnel. It's been just 22 days since Bob wrote so prophetically.

Mach 1 - To Paint Before Snow Hits Again

We are suppose to have another snow storm tomorrow. They predict it will be worse than last week's (worse than last week!!!) and when it's all done we should have enough snow on the ground to break a 93-year-old record for snow fall in December. Dan Rennick thought he better pack up the Mach 1 and take it back to Post Falls, Idaho for paint while the roads are somewhat passable.

Lone Survivor - A Defining Read

Our busy life came to a screeching halt with all this snow, so The Skirt decided now was the time to read Marcus Luttrell's book. I bought it the first week it came out back in July 2007, to show support, but knowing the story couldn't bring myself to read it, until now. Luttrell's recollection is so vivid, his story so gripping I started reading it out loud for Bob each night after dinner. If you haven't read it, you really should. I predict it will be a classic and help define this time in history. I've read some Hollywood dude is making a movie out of it. You should read Lone Survivor and not wait for the movie. I am glad Marcus Luttrell and his loved ones will have their story reach potentially millions and they will be compensated, but Hollywood hasn't been supportive of our mission and they usually never make a movie as true as the book.

Nothing Dampens Santa's Spirit

Why is Santa still smiling? Eighteen to 27 inches of snow has fallen in Eastern Washington and Western Idaho since this storm started yesterday. If you live East of here, get ready it's coming your way.

Better stock up and get yourself a snow shovel.

Santa Loves the Snow

Santa loves the snow, but us mere mortals in Spokane not so much. Yes, it's pretty and it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but all of us in the Inland Empire are still weary from the over 90 inches we got last year. Meanwhile work goes on in the hot rod shop and it's looking like Santa's place out there.

It's Week 4 for the '47 dump truck.

The dump bed on this truck was a WWII surplus unit that was a monster relative to the truck. We cut 36" from the length and 12" from the width to make it better fit the proportions of the cab.

Dustin is back to work on Paul's Model A pickup. This week we made water hard lines, installed bed wood, finished column drop, finished the hood and tie down straps, installed exhaust, built seats and installed the fuel tank.

Greg is working on the Mach 1. As usual, what loked like a little rust ended up being most of the back panels of the Mustang. We were able to save the rear quarters, but that was about it. This will go to Dan Rennick on Friday to begin paint and body work.

It is definitely looking like a white Christmas at Rod Builders. Next, the slaves (elves,guys) will have to move snow so we can move cars around. We have taken away all the sharp tools because we're going to be on suicide watch pretty soon with all this snow. HELP US!
