Taking A Blogging Break - Check Back Later Tator

The Skirt is off to visit her folks in Tacoma, so no new posts for a little while longer. The shop is humming with some cool stuff. Will share, when I get back.

The Family Station Wagon

My father took this picture of me during the autumn of 1964 atop our '61 or '62 Oldsmobile compact station wagon. No one in the family remembers what circumstance initiated the photo. My Dad loved to take photographs back then and he had a very good eye. (Dad, you need to find your old camera and get snapping.) That's my middle sister Mary in the car oblivious to what's going on. Being in the car always made her sleepy. She conked out before we pulled out of the drive way.

Betty Draper's Station Wagon - Is it a Colony Park?

Did anyone notice if Betty Draper was driving a Mercury Colony Park station wagon in the season opener of Mad Men last week? A quick web search shows others have been inquiring as well. The Mad Men web site blog writes they (the makers) were not sure exactly what it was, but they knew the same car had been used in the movie "Far From Heaven." We'll have to rent the movie. Here's ours.
Isn't it a beaut?The 1962 Mercury Colony Park.

Check Out The Ape in the Underpants

We took in the Country Place Tavern Hot Rod & Kustom Party this past weekend. Love the crud!

Also love station wagons.

Wagons in every stage of restoration were on display. Wish we had taken more pictures to show you the variety. We will be ready next time. Spokane's Gorilla & Rabbit with a side of Chicken.(?) started things out. Wish they could have played longer, but all in all , great afternoon of food, adult beverages, people watching and looking at old crap . Thanks Country Place Tavern.
