More Cool Stuff From Goodguys Show in Spokane

Den over at A.D.D. Garage shares his impression of the Goodguys Great Northwest Nationals in Spokane, WA this past weekend. Dave's rat rod turned out great (see A.D.D. Garage for pictures). Den's Speedster looked great too! By the way, The Skirt loved the Panama hat, the perfect accessory to wear with the Speedster.

Goodguys 2009 Great Northwest Nationals

We had a great time checking out all the cars, visiting with old friends and meeting new people at the Goodguys show in Spokane this past weekend. Snapped this as Tonja DiCenzo and the Napa gal rolled by the beer garden in her and her husband Tom's latest project - a '26 Ford Model T rat rod. The car's engine purrs like a kitten. I shot some video. Dustin and Paul's wife Sallie tooled around the grounds in the roadster pickup. People and press seemed to really like it. Now we need to finish it.Kayla went straight to Harold Z.'s Chevy to check out how Eric's interior looked in the bright light of day. What do you think? I'm slipping in this shot I took in the shop to better show the console and cool inset. Here's a closer look at Tom & Tonja's rigs, the rat rod, '29 Ford Truck and '64 Falcon Sprint. One word pretty much sums up Tom's work - meticulous. There was an drooling crowd around all three rides all weekend. I bet there are lots of Flickr photos if you went looking for them.
Chuck sent in photos of this wicked cool Salt Lake Flat Flattie. The owner rolled into Spokane fresh from Bonneville. You can see the salt on the floor pan! Chuck said it was the most powerful flattie he had ever seen. You could hear it running from the other side of the fairgrounds.

4" thick aluminum heads?
The owner trailered the car of course, the salt came from his shoes. Chuck can't recall the owners name, but he was headed back home to his shop in Wenatchee. What a great vacation adventure he's been on. Among other things, The Skirt liked this Ford wagon too, and Dave Kelly's '60 Caddy. It's for sale.
Kayla liked the Caddy too (video) and this champagne-colored Studebaker. Well, you can't show it all. Until next time.

Don & Nancy Wilbur's '32 Sedan (Took this picture at the same party. I think Bob is pointing at the tiny bit of fabrication RBI did.)

Dennis Hunter's Glass '34

Don't know who owns this, but it's cool.
and so is this. There were half a dozen more, but couldn't get a decent photo. Of course a few of the cars pictured above spent some time in our shop and if its wrong to love a car you've worked on, then our heart just won't let us be right.

Dennis Akers' '34 Ford Truck

Our good friend Dennis Akers came by for a visit last Thursday and to show us his newest home-built, this lavender '34 Ford pickup. The truck won a "pick" at the Goodguys in Puyallup and caught the eye of Goodguys owner, Chuck Metters. When we last saw Dennis at the Goodguys show here in Spokane Saturday he had another one of the coveted stickers on his headlight. Dennis does beautiful work.

Saturday at the Goodguys Show - Spokane

Spent Saturday morning at the Goodguys Great Northwest Nationals here in Spokane. Our friend Sara Peterson and her children enjoy dressing the part. Check out those tats! Sara and her husband Darrel own Gunner Productions hot rod shop in Post Falls, Idaho. We are dealing with record breaking heat this weekend in Eastern Washington, which may keep some folks away from the show. We'll see how it all shakes out. More blogging and our favorite cars on Monday. Bye
